Our Programs

Our programs are rooted in community, education, technology, and providing unique creative opportunities for both emerging and established artists. We embrace all genres and mediums, fostering collaboration and connection between artists and audiences. Through our fundraising efforts, we strive to create a more equitable business environment, ensuring that artists receive fair compensation and the space to express their creativity. Inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to supporting artists and audiences of all races, ethnicities, genders, and ages.

Open Call

The ShapeShifter Plus Open Call Program is designed to provide a platform for artists of all backgrounds and disciplines to showcase their work in an inclusive and supportive environment. We welcome applications from emerging and established artists who are seeking unique opportunities to present their projects, whether in music, visual arts, dance, theater, or interdisciplinary forms.

We offer a free, no-cost platform for serious and creative  artists to present their projects. For the artists, you will receive up to onehour of presentation time, our sound engineer and backline and front of house. The selection process will go through our team with our Artistic Director.

This program is an integral part of our mission to support innovative work and create equitable opportunities for artists. It is supported by various funding sources of our organization and donors.

Education Program

ShapeShifter Plus is proud to collaborate with organizations, like the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance, on their youth music education program, the Fat Cats.

Our Young Adults Program will include workshops, masterclasses, talks with well-known musicians, and performances for up-and-coming musicians dedicated to developing their craft.

Check out Fat Cats Open Rehearsals on Sundays at ShapeShifter! (Oct to June)

Weekly Workshop and Jam Session

Every Wednesday, ShapeShifter Lab hosts an open jam session where musicians of all genres and skill levels come together to create, collaborate, and experiment. It’s a space for community, creativity, and spontaneous musical expression—whether you’re an emerging artist or a seasoned performer.

Art Exhibition Collaborations

ShapeShifter Plus also loves to collaborate with visual artists. The current exhibition is curated by the Good Neighbors of Park Slope.

Featured Artist Program

Featured Artists will curate a month of performances, workshops, and interviews with fellow musicians. They will also record educational content for TuneBend, a new format for music education created by Shapeshifter Lab Productions.
