Nikolaj Bangsgaard is a young danish drummer who moved to NYC in 2022. This night he will be leading his own band to be heard for the first time in New York City featuring compositions by Nikolaj and other members of the band – a band that features saxophonist David Truilo, trumpet player Joey Curreri, pianist Tommaso Perazzo and bassist Michael Gilbert. The sound is open and curious as the band tries to deliver an honest take on the improvised art form whose history has been shaped across generations.

An evening of Scandinavian jazz, rooted in the long history of traditional folk songs. Compositions and arrangements by the musicians from Denmark, Sweden and the US. This is also the tale of old friends from college reconnecting and performing together for the first time.
