The Eric Stern Quintet is a collective aiming to create a mix of the classic and the modern, and bring it together with a group of musicians deeply grounded in the tradition of acoustic jazz who also are forward-looking and want to bring the music into the present. The Eric Stern Quintet aims to do this by presenting an exciting mix of classic compositions by well-known jazz composers with fresh original compositions by members of the band.
Eric Stern is a 22-year old jazz pianist, composer, and arranger who has captured audiences far and wide for his intuitive ability to make meaningful, emotional, intense, and exciting sonic experiences for listeners everywhere. Eric is on a number of albums that came out this year, including the acclaimed debut of vocalist Kate Kortum on Good Woman, and on the Frost Jazz Orchestra’s debut album. Eric released his debut project, Familiar Colors, last year. Eric currently studies at the Manhattan School of Music with Ted Rosenthal, Phil Markowitz, and has worked with Buster Williams, Nicole Glover, Jon Faddis, Dafnis Prieto, Shelly Berg, Christian McBride, and a bevy of others.
