Straddling jazz and improvised music, the Tristan Geary Trio presents music in equal parts original pieces, raucous and restrained, and improvised eclecticism, joyous and spontaneous. Featuring stellar Hudson Valley musicians Mark Venuto (bass) and Jonathan Collazo (drums) the core trio is led by Tristan Geary (piano), whose music, well rooted in the jazz tradition, is as experimental as it is swinging. Informed by both their study of jazz and orchestral and ensemble composition, the trio’s capacity for genre-bending creations and collaboration continue to light a fire underneath it, pursuing a meandering, storytelling sound, while never sacrificing on groove, blues, and interplay.
The trio has performed extensively in the Hudson Valley region and in New York City. Geary. Born in London, UK, Geary is based in both the U.S. and Europe, and graduated from Bard College in 2020 with a degree in jazz performance and composition.
