Every Wednesday this October 2023, drummer and composer John B. Arnold will be hosting the jam session at ShapeShifter Lab from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.
5:30pm – 6:15pm John will lead a workshop covering many aspects of drumming within the context of this specific jam session. Topics will include: odd meters, playing with sequencers and a click track, understanding the role of drums in a rhythm section, as well as concepts from his book, “Revolutions in Modern Drumming”, such as Layering, Turbines, and Beat Displacement. These topics will serve a spring point for important ideas and discussions just before the jam session begins. Matt Garrison will be joining John in a support role during the workshop.
