Protocinema is a live screening of short (<15m) video works from unknown or emerging directors that subvert traditional cinematic norms. The program will highlight works that are evocative, eclectic, experimental, low-budget/DIY, and often ask more questions than they answer. Protocinema believes that short films are a democratic medium for everyone, not just filmmakers, and seeks to establish shorts as their own artistic entity separate from traditional feature-length films.
