Derek Lewis is a New York City based Pianist, Composer, and Educator, originally from Buffalo, New York. in 2021, Lewis moved to New York City to complete his undergraduate degree at the prestigious New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Derek has performed at established venues such as the 2022 Bern International Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the 2023 Yale Jazz Collective Jazz Festival, the 2024 Northwest Jazz Festival, Smalls Jazz Club, Zinc Bar, the Buffalo Colored Musicians Club, The National Jazz Museum in Harlem, Wally’s Jazz Cafe, The Treelawn, Pausa Art House, and with Harlem Jazz Boxx for their Harlem Jazz Series. In addition to leading his own trio, he has played with Philip Harper, Sabu Adeyola, Eugenie Jones, and Kahlil Kwame Bell.
