New Orleans native Benjamin Cousins, an endorsed Selmer Paris artist, embarked on his musical journey at age 14, immersing himself in the city’s rich tradition of improvised music. Graduating from the local performing arts high school (NOCCA) in 2016, he earned scholarships to Berklee College of Music (BM) and Temple University (MM). Cousins refined his craft throughout the years under the mentorship of esteemed teachers including Edward Kidd Jordan, Evan Christopher, Gregory Agid, George Garzone, Kenny Werner, Tim Warfield, and Donald Harrison Jr.
About the Project: Motivated by the transformative powers of music, Cousins seeks to showcase a diverse palette of sonic spaces that reflect his own lived experiences; offering reminders of the past and visions of optimism for the future. “The Sonic Architects” represent Cousin’s inaugural project, presenting live performances infused with a message – to forge new aural landscapes, serving as a vessel for listeners to dream, dance, heal, transcend.
