DESCRIPTION:Shai Jaschek- guitar & compositions\nJoe Martin- bass\nAnthony Pinciotti- drums\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShai Jaschek is an Israeli born guitarist\, composer\, and music educator based in New York City.\n\nAfter first picking up the guitar at 10 years old\, Shai has since dedicated his life to music\,\nplaying and performing constantly.\n\nBefore establishing himself in NYC\, Shai completed his Bachelor’s in Arts from Israel’s top\njazz performance programs\, such as “The Jazz Institute” at the “Rimon School of Music”\,\nand the “Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance”.\nDuring this time\, Shai sought the opportunity to seek mentorship from world renowned musicians\, such as trumpeter Avishai Cohen\, saxophonist Eli Degibri\, and composer\nYoni Rechter.\nAs their mentee\, Shai developed his unique voice as a composer and improviser.\n\nDuring his Bachelor’s\, he played in different musical groups\, such as The Haifa Big Band\, and\nThe Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra\, and became an in-demand guitarist in the Israeli\nmusic scene.\nThese experiences led Shai to start his own band\, playing his original compositions\,\npreforming in clubs and festivals both in Israel and abroad.\n\nDriven by his passion for jazz music\, Shai relocated from Israel to NYC to pursue his graduate studies in music and to also be a part of the local jazz scene in the city.\nIn 2021\, Shai was granted a Master’s in music from Queens College\, an institution with internationally acclaimed musicians\, such as Antonio Hart\, Mike Moreno\, David Berkman\, and Michael Mossman.\n\nAfter setting foot in NYC\, Shai has been performing around the city both as a sideman in different bands and as a leader.\nHis debut album\, First Fall\, was released in October 2023 and features his original compositions.\n\n\n\n\n\ndoors @8:30 pm;\nonline ticket sales closes 30 mins before showtime;\nticket at door $25; get your ticket early!

In December 2024\, they will be releasing their third studio album\, You Have the Floor.\n\n“How can we create an easy to digest\, tidy package of counterpoint; one that keeps the average listener engaged but also peaks the interest of those who are privy to a deeper sense of musicality?” Their goal for this project was to write music that was harmonically relatable yet still carefully detailed in form\, timbre and execution.\n\nPHUC will be performing selections from You Have the Floor as well as newer works that showcase the group’s changing sound. She has four solo albums under her belt along with multiple hit singles frequently played on the radio (and everywhere you listen to your music)\, and a popular livestream show called Sing with Suzi featuring special guests from around the globe that is watched in over 70 countries! Suzi is a staple in Park Slope with her regular playground-packed performances at Old Stone House of Brooklyn\, Brooklyn Public Library\, and Jalopy Theatre. \nMil’s Trills is a Brooklyn-based children’s music project dedicated to creating positive inclusive music-making experiences that strive to empower and embrace young audiences and families. Through joyful collaborative live shows\, engaging albums\, and interactive songwriting web series\, we work to find new creative ways of bringing people together towards a peaceful global community.

DESCRIPTION:The Fat Cats Youth Orchestra Open Workshop and Rehearsals Weekly at ShapeShifter\n  \nSparkling with the sound of young talent\, The Fat Cats is a pre-professional youth orchestra. The group is composed of one big band and two small ensembles that perform Latin jazz and standard jazz pieces and showcase the finest young talent from across all NYC boroughs. \nFounded in 2010 by Arturo O’Farril and managed by the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance\,  The Fat Cats is led by Zack O’Farrill with Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra members Jim Seeley\, Berta Moreno\, and Jasim Perales\, as well as Arthur Alvarez and Adam Baksh-García. \nOver the years\, The Fat Cats have taken the stage at New York venues such as the Brooklyn Museum\, New York Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center\, the Frick Collection\, the Greene Space at WNYC\, BRIC House\, Birdland and Brooklyn’s Shapeshifter Lab who has welcomed the band for weekly rehearsals since their 2023-2024 season.
