SUMMARY:Variego3: Recompensa
DESCRIPTION:At the Shapeshifter Lab\, the Variego3 will present a selection of originals from their latest album Recompensa(Centaur 2023) \nJorge Variego – Clarinet and Compositions\nTaber Gable – Piano\nRob Linton – Bass \n  \n\nMore about Variego3: \nJorge Variego @dominoensemble (clarinets and compositions) was born in Rosario\, Argentina. He is a former Fulbright Scholar and is currently on the Music Theory and Composition faculty at the University of Tennessee and is the composition program coordinator at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival. \nActively involved with technology in sound and music\, Jorge has been a pioneer in the field of interactive computer music\, having created and performed a great deal of works for clarinet and electronics in the US\, Europe and South America. Jorge is also the founder director of the UT Electroacoustic Ensemble\, a student group dedicated to free improvisation with electronic media. \nRecently graduated from The Juilliard School\, Taber Gable @tabesthegabes has been called on to play\, tour\, alongside many great musicians such as Marcus/E.J.Strickland\, Terrace Martin\, Trevor Lawrence\, Jonathan Barber\, Braxton Cook\, and many more! \nGable is a highly sought after musician in the New York jazz scene as well as internationally known for his cross-genre abilities and captivating live performance style. \nRob Linton @roblintonbass (double bass) is a versatile artist from Charlotte\, North Carolina and a proud alumnus of UNC Charlotte. Rob has earned two degrees in music throughout his performance career. Rob also performs in orchestral settings\, experimental contemporary music settings\, and for recitals and concerts. \n  \n\n  \nRecent Press \n“… what I love the most about this album is the incredible variety of textures and organic sounds within. The ensemble has a warm\, roomy tone which reminds me of old jazz records. On the other hand\, the band is not afraid to experiment with distortion effects\, li-fi dynamics and many other elements adding a grittier character to the mix. The sheer variety of sounds and influences in this release is also quite fantastic\, giving the tracks a unique and memorable feel that truly stands out.”- Stacey Zering INK19 \n“…the Domino Ensemble’s debut album is an intriguing journey filled with contrasts and surprising shifts. The performers are all seasoned veterans who collaborate with ease and instinctively cross genres to form a style which is distinctly their own. Purple Ego is released by Centaur Records and is available on Spotify\, Apple Music and from all major music retailers.” – Zachary Dierick – The Clarinet \n“A great disc [Recompensa]\, and a treat for all jazz lovers. The range of styles is large; all three players are superb in their own right and even better together as one entity. A Want List candidate\, for sure. […] five stars: A great disc\, and a treat for all jazz lovers.” Colin Clarke – Fanfare
