SUMMARY:Aaron Parks Little Big : Dec 13\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:  \nOnline Advanced Ticket: $20 (online sales close 2 hours before showtime)\nTicket at Door: $25 (available on day of show) \nGreg Tuohey – guitar\nAaron Parks – piano and keyboards\nDavid Ginyard\, Jr – bass\nJongkuk Kim – drums \n\n\n\nA band that flourishes over the course of years is bound to deepen and evolve\, and that is certainly true of Aaron Parks Little Big\, launched by the celebrated pianist in collaboration with guitarist Greg Tuohey\, bassist David “DJ’ Ginyard\, and original drummer Tommy Crane. Now\, with new drummer Jongkuk Kim joining the fold\, the band is preparing for the recording of their third album. The new repertoire continues the band’s cultivation of a musical language that marries creative improvised music to more groove-centered music—electronica\, indie-rock\, hip-hop\, psychedelia\, and more. \n— \n\n\n\n\nSebastian Slomkowski – visual artist \nSebastian Slomkowski\, born in New York City is an artist with a practice focusing on large scale abstract painting. He graduated from University of the Arts London in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art Painting\, after which he maintained a rigorous studio practice moving between London\, Warsaw\, Helsinki and Barcelona. After years of nomadic life in Europe Sebastian moved back to NYC in the summer 2023. \nSlomkowski’s technique is as visceral as it is assembled; heavy oil paint layered on ghosts of thin paint cut the composition into fragments that often seem to want to shoot out of the picture. The space within the paintings is often unidentifiable\, however the paintings themselves occupy the room they inhabit with a definite presence. His creative process could be seen as a sort of digging through layers of soil\, unearthing structures that either bend\, fracture\, or mold around each other. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n*This residency is supported by:\nDr. Oskar Kiwic\, MD\nSteve & Ellen Schultz

SUMMARY:A holiday celebration inspired by the music of Django Reinhardt
DESCRIPTION:8pm.         Lisa Lui quartet (Two acoustic guitars violin and upright bass)\n9pm          Franglais (Voice\, archtop guitar\, acoustic guitar\, upright bass)\n\n 10pm        Sami Arefin Trio (Two acoustic guitars and upright bass)\n  \n  \n\nA holiday celebration inspired by the music of Django Reinhardt featuring 3 top bands in the style of Gypsy jazz playing holiday songs and classic tunes. Experience a modern interpretation of this classic swinging style in an evening affair to be remembered. \n\n\nFranglais:\nRelentlessly creative\, yet seriously old guard\, Franglais is one of the best and most interesting Gypsy jazz bands in the United States. Founded in 2004 after a trip to the Django Reinhardt Jazz festival in Samois-Sur-Seine\, France. Performing at that very festival 10 later!\, Franglais sounds like jazz in the Sinti camps yet creative and beautiful solos from the front line make their music distinctly American.\n\nLisa Lui: \nLisa Liu is a guitarist based in Brooklyn\, NY. She plays gypsy jazz\, folk\, rock\, and solo guitar. Liu is an Artist Ambassador for Santa Cruz Guitar Company\, Sadowsky Guitars\, and Krivo Pickups. Liu has been published in Acoustic Guitar Magazine and has performed and taught alongside Mimi Fox\, Martin Taylor and John Knowles CGP.
