She will perform a selection of her original songs arranged for a solo voice/piano set. \n\n\nThe Park Slope Food Coop Concert Series is one of the most exciting initiatives we undertake as a community. With so many gifted and talented members\, creating this series was a natural decision and a no-brainer.\n\nThe baton of music and performance curation was passed on to Jay and Alexis by Beverly Grant—a great artist and long-time member since the inception of the Food Coop. Beverly is an artist\, photographer\, singer-songwriter\, composer\, and activist who has greatly contributed to our community.\nJason Weiner and the membership staff have played a key role in bringing this event to life. We thank them for sharing the same joy and respect for the arts\, which enriches all walks of life.\n\nBefore the shutdown\, this concert series was a crucial and pinnacle way of bringing us closer together as a community that truly cares about the world around us. Art\, in every aspect of our human experience\, is a life-healing force.\n\nAlexis Cuadrado and Jay Rodriguez are both professional musicians\, composers\, and producers. They have expanded the vision of the curation to create a platform for freedom of expression for all. Shapeshifter Lab visionaries Fortuna Sung and Matthew Garrison have also become vital to our mission\, generously providing us with their performance space across the street from the Food Coop.

SUMMARY:ÍNTIMAMENTE QUEER TANGO MARATHON
DESCRIPTION:ÍNTIMAMENTEQUEER TANGO MARATHON\n\n\nJANUARY 24TH – 26TH 2025\nSHAPESHIFTER LAB @ 837 Union St\, Brooklyn\, NY\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExperience a warm and intimate winter weekend at the first queer tango marathon in North America! Come dance\, make friends and participate in playful workshops and discussions with our guests artists from Mexico\, and Madrid. Enjoy nutritious vegan and vegetarian meals prepared lovingly by our Brooklyn based-Tunisian born chef. What to expect: An intimate tango space that centers queer identified dancers regardless of dance level or experience. We have a very limited capacity and priority will be given to queer dancers. Milongas\, meals and refreshments are in the main space on the ground floor. You can purchase alcoholic drinks from a cash bar or specialty coffee from the cafe barista. A filtered water cooler is available on the second floor so bring your water bottles. Discussions and workshops are on the second floor studio space. Outside of scheduled programming\, the studio is available for lounging\, socializing\, getting a massage or checking out the clothing and shoe swap. Bring your lightly used items that are in good condition for swapping. Vegan and vegetarian meals are included from Friday night to Sunday evening. Snacks and refreshments between meals\, ie; juices\, hot water for tea and drip coffee will also be provided. As part of a co-operative effort in building community and friendship\, we ask that all dancers participate by volunteering on a simple task for a maximum of 30mins. A task may include greeting dancers at the entrance\, collecting trash\, sweeping floor\, organizing the clothing swap corner etc\,. For our more seasoned festival and marathon queer dancers\, you can volunteer by being a “Guide” to our new comers in queer tango or to New York City. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarathon Program & Schedule\n\n\n\n\nSCHEDULE SUMMARY \nFRIDAY\, January 24 \n5pm-7pm: Resource and Skill Share \n7pm-8:30pm: Dinner \n8:30pm-9:30pm: Beginner Workshop \n8:30pm-2am: Milonga \nSATURDAY\, January 25 \n12:30pm-1:30pm: Brunch \n1:30pm-3pm: Community Discussion \n3pm-7pm: Milonga \n7pm-8:30pm: Dinner \n8:30pm-9:30pm: Folklore Workshop \n8:30pm-3am: Milonga \nSUNDAY\, January 26 \n1pm-2pm: Brunch \n2pm-7pm: Milonga \n7pm-8pm: Dinner \n8pm-12am: Farewell Milonga
