SUMMARY:‭STREET STORIES & OTHER NARRATIVES‬ ‭: Art Exhibition Opening Reception: Park Slope Windsor Terrace Artists
DESCRIPTION: November 12th – January 11 \n 14 Brooklyn artists and their sidewalks \n\nOpening Reception – Thursday November 14th 5-8pm\nShort Stories by the artists & “Street“ Open Mic hosted by poet Paula Corso\n\n\n\n Mieko Asada\n Paola Corso\n Chris Doogan\n Francesca Furian\n Rich Garr\n Bob Hagan\n Tom Keough\n Diane Miller\n Janet Pedersen\n Joyce Riley\n Mary Cuddihee Skrill\n Janie Samuels\n Linda Schneider\n Ella Yang\n\n  \n  \n  \n\n Artists have always been highly aware of their surroundings. Often entire environments are noted: objects and architecture\, sights and sounds\, people and their stories. Monet and Manet painted Paris  at all times of day and night. Later\, the Ashcan painters depicted New Yorkers negotiating harsh city streets. Here\, 14 Brooklyn artists use bold color\, painterly surfaces\, cropping\, and often extreme attention to detail in depicting nuance on our sidewalks. These Park Slope and Winslow Terrace artists are our community\, and it shows. \n  \n Info on artists visit ArtsPSWT.com ; \n call 718-938-1400; email \n gothamsidewalks@gmail.com \n

SUMMARY:The Park Slope Food Coop Concert Series #2
DESCRIPTION:The Park Slope Food Coop Concert Series is one of the most exciting initiatives we undertake as a community. With so many gifted and talented members\, creating this series was a natural decision and a no-brainer.\n\nThe baton of music and performance curation was passed on to Jay and Alexis by Beverly Grant—a great artist and long-time member since the inception of the Food Coop. Beverly is an artist\, photographer\, singer-songwriter\, composer\, and activist who has greatly contributed to our community.\nJason Weiner and the membership staff have played a key role in bringing this event to life. We thank them for sharing the same joy and respect for the arts\, which enriches all walks of life.\n\nBefore the shutdown\, this concert series was a crucial and pinnacle way of bringing us closer together as a community that truly cares about the world around us. Art\, in every aspect of our human experience\, is a life-healing force.\n\nAlexis Cuadrado and Jay Rodriguez are both professional musicians\, composers\, and producers. They have expanded the vision of the curation to create a platform for freedom of expression for all. Shapeshifter Lab visionaries Fortuna Sung and Matthew Garrison have also become vital to our mission\, generously providing us with their performance space across the street from the Food Coop.

SUMMARY:Welcome to Sunflower Lane
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the unveiling of Sunflower Lane\, a new animation series with a message! For the first installment\, meet Extra Ultra Super Gal\, a talking tampon who helps her friend Jane with issues of period overflow. After the screening\, the one and only singer\, songwriter\, activist Esther Crow has promised to perform the catchy theme song she wrote for Extra Ultra Super Gal along with a few of her popular social/climate justice songs. Animators from Sunflower Lane Collective will be present for an introduction and closing Q&A. \nBring an unopened package of pads\, tampons\, underwear (all sizes)\, or better yet period underwear to gain admission. 100% of proceeds will be donated to help end period poverty. \n\n\nSunflower Lane Collective is a group of artists from different generations and identities who share their stories through short-form animation. “Sunflower Lane” is a series of episodes that combine these animations in a Sesame Street-style format. Using our work as a platform\, we create an open dialogue to a wider audience. This online series of animations bridges the gap between individuals who grew up during different times in history; a show that parents can watch with their children\, grandparents with their grandchildren\, and chosen families can use to connect with each other. Nomatter what adversities may arise\, like sunflowers we always turn to face the sun. \n\nhttps://www.sunflowerlaneshow.com/ \n
