SUMMARY:Brad Shepik Human Activity:  'Dream of the Possible' and Elsa Nilsson Atlas Of Sound; 'Quila Quina' Double Release Concert
DESCRIPTION:DOUBLE BILL \n“Human Activity: Dream of the Possible” is a ten-movement meditation on the climate challenges we face\, seeking to inspire action for a sustainable future. This piece\, composed and premiered by guitarist Brad Shepik in 2021\, builds on his earlier work\, “Human Activity Suite” (2007). Shepik’s extensive career includes collaborations with jazz greats such as Paul Motian\, Charlie Haden\, Carla Bley\, Dave Douglas\, and Bob Brookmeyer\, as well as contributions to world music with artists like Yuri Yunakov\, Pachora and Simon Shaheen. “Human Activity: Dream of the Possible” reflects Shepik’s response to the alarming climate report of 2021\, emphasizing the critical need for proactive environmental stewardship. \nBrad Shepik Human Activity:\n7pm\nBrad Shepik – guitar\,\nLayale Chaker – violin\,\nPhilip Golub – piano\,\nSam Minaie – bass\,\nJohn Hadfield – percussion\n\n——————————-\n\nElsa Nilsson Atlas Of Sound\nElsa Nilsson – Flutes\nSantiago Leibson – Piano\nMarty Kenney – Bass\nRodrigo Recabarren – Drums\n\nAtlas Of Sound is an ongoing series that explores humanity’s relationship to place by creating music centered multimedia captures of specific locations. The first Atlas\, written for the Coast Redwoods and released in 2022 featuring Pianist Jon Cowherd and bassist Chris Morissey\, was lauded by Dave Sumner at Bandcamp as “It’s as close as you’ll get to being there without actually being there\, and it’s yet another intriguing project from Nilsson that touches upon themes of experience\, memory\, and interconnectedness.” This second installment was written at an artist residency in the Argentinian Patagonia region\, in a small village called Quila Quina\, and features Buenos Aires pianist Santiago Leibson.\n\nThe show will take you through the plants and places around Quila Quina with an accompanying visual component and poetry by Mapuche Poet Pukem Inayao\n\n\nhttps://www.bradshepikmusic.com/\nhttps://www.elsanilssonmusic.com/\n\n\n\nonline ticket sales available at door for $25
