DESCRIPTION:Vocalist and acclaimed songwriter Aimée Allen brings her ultra-dynamic trio with versatile and innovative guitarist Tony Romano and world-renowned bassist François Moutin. The trio’s musical aesthetic is exciting\, rhythmic\, lyrical\, and improvisational. Its repertoire is focused on Aimée’s compelling\, soulful original music and arrangements from multiple eras of the jazz canon. Seemingly minimalist\, these three explore sonic landscapes for a rich sound that is more than the sum of its parts. In this performance\, they will debut a new work\, “Suite Ephemera”\, a song cycle by Aimée commissioned by Chamber Music America under a New Jazz Works grant. Expect a rich\, exciting set full of song poetry. \n“Suite Ephemera” by Aimée Allen and the Aimée Allen Trio has been made possible with support from Chamber Music America’s New Jazz Works program funded through the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. \nMore about the Artist:\nJazz vocalist and composer/lyricist Aimée Allen is known for her warm\, sensual vocals that are both grounded and ethereal\, and her soulful\, poignant original songs that mix poetic lyricism with rich harmonies and rhythms. She has released 6 critically acclaimed albums. Her latest Love and the Catalyst was nominated for a 2023 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Jazz Album – Vocal. Her prior release\, Wings Uncaged was named a Best of 2019 by Downbeat Magazine. Her repertoire of her own compositions and fresh takes on jazz standards engages listeners. She is joined in this trio by versatile and innovative guitarist Tony Romano and peerless world-renowned bassist Francois Moutin.
