“Feet Don’t Change” is an evening-length suite written for jazz quartet (saxophone, piano, acoustic bass, and drums) and string quartet (two violins, viola, and cello). While primarily a jazz project, this music is also influenced by 19th and 20th Century European Classical and Ghanaian musical styles. Far from depicting something exotic, “Feet Don’t Change” gets to the heart of the music I have listened to for my entire life. It is intended to provide audiences a joyful listening experience that celebrates what we have in common during a historical moment that is more divided than ever.
