Dot Iso Plus Quintet is the trio Dot Iso plus Selendis Sebastian Alexander Johnson and Caroline Morton. Dot Iso is a NYC-based trio performing mostly improvised music, as well as compositions by its members and established figures. Formed in 2021 and comprised of Vivek Menon (violin), Dylan DelGiudice (guitar & saxophone), and Orchid McRae (percussion) the trio is deeply collaborative, often rehearsing overnight for several hours of continuous improvised performance. Vivek Menon has performed on records by internationally recognized electronic music producers such as Iglooghost and Daedelus and is nearing completion of his DMA from Stony Brook University. Dylan DelGiudice performs in many contexts around NYC, including in improvised music, jazz, hip hop and musical theater.  Orchid McRae is an active composer and performer of creative and improvised music in NYC. Current projects include the ensembles orchiddBB and 5 Ribbons.

Selendis Sebastian Alexander Johnson is a vibraphonist, trombonist, and composer working across musical styles, though primarily rooting herself in the black-american experimental tradition. Born in 2000 in Dallas, Texas and growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, she would move to New York City to attend the New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music in 2018. In her time there she found a home in the nyc free jazz community, and has rooted most of her practice since in integrating improvisation throughout a range of works. She can be found playing around a range of spaces in nyc in many groups and projects, though most recurringly her duo with Samantha Kochis ‘Antivoid’, Simon Hanes’s avant-surf-rock quintet ‘Tsons of Tsunami’, her big band ‘The Selendis Sebastian Alexander Johnson Big Band’, or solo. She can be found at avoiceiwanttoshare.net or on Instagram @lemwell7.

Caroline Morton is an upright bassist and composer/singer-songwriter, writing and performing primarily in the improvised/experimental music scene in NYC. They are currently attending The New School for Jazz and Contemporary music, where they are studying with Luke Stewart and Wendy Eisenberg, and have had the privilege of studying under Reggie Workman, Darius Jones, Billy Martin, Chris Lightcap, Jane Ira Bloom, and many others. Caroline performs frequently alongside free jazz/experimental rock band SU$HI (with guitarist Gian Perez and drummer Anthony Genovesi), the experimental-free jazz-orchestral-electronic large group improvisatory project Under the Hands of Each Other (with trombonists Selendis Sebastian Alexander Johnson, Calvin Ryerse, and AJ Medeiros (also electronics), trumpet/electronic artists Kwami Winfield and James Worsey, and bassist Kayla Kessler), a free jazz/experimental trio with guitarist Gian Perez and legendary drummer Marc Edwards, and has recently begun performing more regularly with tenor saxophonist Zoh Amba. Some of Caroline’s recorded work can be found on SoundCloud under the name “caromorto”, and information on her live performances can be found on Instragram @carolinemorto.
